Top 10 Electric Scooter Manufacturers in China (2026 Update)

Seated e-mopeds and standing kick scooters, ranked separately — with 2025 unit sales, product lines, certifications and sourcing notes for importers.

Updated 1 September 2026

If you search “electric scooter manufacturer in China,” you get one list that quietly mixes two completely different products: sit-down electric mopeds that weigh 100 kg and need a number plate, and foldable kick scooters you can carry upstairs. They are made by different factories, shipped under different HS codes, and approved under different regulations.

This 2026 update separates them. Below you will find two independent top-5 lists — one for seated electric scooters / e-mopeds, one for standing kick scooters — with the 2025 numbers behind each brand and what it actually means for you as a buyer.

Two products, one word: what “scooter” really means when you source from China

The word “scooter” comes from the verb to scoot — to move quickly. It was first written down in 1825 meaning “one who goes quickly.” By 1919 it named a child’s toy: a board with two wheels and a handlebar you push along with your foot. Then, from 1917 onward, the same word also became shorthand for motor scooter — a sit-down, two-wheeled vehicle with a step-through frame and a platform for your feet.

Today that single word covers two entirely different families of vehicles. They look different, they ride differently, and — the part that costs importers real money — they are regulated under two different rulebooks. Tell a Chinese factory you want “electric scooters” without saying which kind, and you will be quoted the wrong product, the wrong certification and the wrong shipping class.

Important: the two lists below are not ranked against each other. They are two separate markets, each with its own leaders.

Top 5 seated electric scooter & e-moped manufacturers in China (2025 unit sales)

Figures are 2025 domestic unit sales unless stated. Source: 2026 China E-Two-Wheeler Industry White Paper and company disclosures.

1 Yadea 雅迪 HKEX: 01585

2025 sales: 14.99 m domestic units (25.5% share) · ~16.27 m globally

Who they are. The world's largest electric two-wheeler maker by volume — No. 1 for nine consecutive years (2017–2025) — and the first in the industry to pass 100 million cumulative units, in December 2025. Yadea put roughly US$150 m into R&D in 2024, about as much as its next nine competitors combined, and holds 2,000+ patents backed by a national industrial design centre and three CNAS-accredited labs.

Capacity & reach. Ten production bases including Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand and Mexico, with ~25 m units of annual capacity. The Mexico plant is its North America hub. 4,000+ distributors across 100+ countries.

Main lines. Guanneng (冠能) long-range series — E8, M6, and the 2026 flagship Guanneng Xingjian II (6,480 W peak, 85 km/h, 150 km range, automotive-grade dual-channel ABS + TCS + millimetre-wave radar); the Feiyue FD9 (0–100 km/h in 4.9 s, 10-minute charge to 80%); new-standard e-bicycles; e-bikes for North America (FATBOY, FLO, CES 2026) and Europe (Como, Rover).

Sourcing note. Best for Distributors who need full-line coverage and after-sales density. Graphene and sodium-ion battery options; overseas plants can shorten lead times and, in Mexico's case, change the origin declaration.

2 AIMA 爱玛 SSE: 603529

2025 sales: 11.40 m domestic units (19.4% share)

Who they are. Founded in 2006 and headquartered in Jinghai, Tianjin, AIMA is the other half of China's tier-1 duopoly. It runs seven manufacturing bases plus a smart-manufacturing centre in Hangzhou and holds 1,800+ patents. Its positioning is deliberately different from Yadea's: design-led, comfort-focused, with strong pull among urban and female riders.

Main lines. Q series (Yuanzhou Space L / Oi / Pony, Dundun, Q5 MAX), S series (Heiyi S360 / S790), A series (Yangwang A5, A7 Plus), F series (Yongshi F626), X series (Jijiashi, Zaomengshi X14), a three-wheeler range (Lexiang CA500, Kaixin Q70, Lezhen CA900) and a commercial/delivery line (Mahe S1 MAX). The 2026 Liefang pairs a 72 V 32 Ah battery with a 2,500 W motor and TCS.

Technology. Engine MAX / Engine 8 integrated drive system, Gold Label batteries, AIMA Blue controller.

Sourcing note. Best for Urban commuter and light-delivery fleets where styling and ride comfort sell. Overseas footprint is real but thinner than Yadea's — Vietnam passed 10,000 units in March 2026; brand claims distribution in 77 countries.

3 Tailg 台铃 HKEX IPO filed 30 Jan 2026

2025 sales: 6.88 m domestic units (11.7% share)

Who they are. Founded in Shenzhen in 2003 by the Sun brothers and now headquartered in Wuxi, Jiangsu, Tailg owns the “runs further” position outright — its Cloud Power 4.0 system set a Guinness World Record of 656.8 km on a single charge in 2020. Seven bases (Dongguan, Wuxi, Tianjin, Xuzhou, Huizhou, Chongqing, Guigang) give it capacity of more than 15 m units a year; 30,000+ stores in China and exports to 90+ countries. It filed for a Hong Kong listing in January 2026.

Main lines. Huoyan Jijia (火眼机甲) flagship series — Cangqiong (2026), Chitu 2025, Fengshen Pro & Ultra, Wangzhe and Wangzhe fast-charge; Tezhuan Qijian (Adventurer, Light Chaser); Dushi Manqi urban-cruise series (Athens, Rome, Milan 2026, Turin); Qiqu Riji (Doduo, Duomi); and the Super-S range. Overseas, the F91 Ultra-L does 150 km with automotive-grade fast charging and TCS.

Technology. 2nd-gen Jindouyun long-range architecture, Blue Whale sodium battery (rated to −20 °C), TAI-LINK smart riding system, 2,000+ patents, national CNAS laboratory.

Sourcing note. Best for Markets with long daily distances, hilly terrain or poor roads — and cold climates, where the sodium battery's low-temperature retention is a genuine selling point. Showed 22 models across e-motorcycles, e-bikes and tricycles at the 139th Canton Fair.

4 Segway-Ninebot 九号 SSE: 689009

2025 sales: 4.09 m electric two-wheelers (+28.8% YoY)

Who they are. The fastest-growing tier-1 brand and the only company on both lists below. Ninebot runs a dual-brand, global, “replace petrol with electric” strategy built on NimbleOS (凌波 OS), its in-house whole-vehicle operating system with lifetime OTA updates. It led China's online channel by volume share in 2025 and has been the global No. 1 kick-scooter brand by sales value for three straight years.

Main lines. E series performance flagships — the E300P MK2 hits 135 km/h with dual-channel valve ABS; the M series covers premium commuting (M5 125 dual-battery, 70 km/h, RideyFUN); the Segway Xaber 300 is an off-road machine with 30 kW peak, 180 km off-road / 250 km urban range; the Fz and MMAX lines push smart features into mass-market price bands.

Sourcing note. Best for Buyers whose end customers expect app ecosystems, OTA updates and keyless access. Software maturity is well ahead of the traditional tier-1, but the dealer/servicenetwork is thinner in tier-3 and tier-4 cities.

5 Luyuan 绿源 HKEX: 02451

2025 sales: 2.82 m domestic units (4.8% share)

Who they are. Founded in 1997, Luyuan built its reputation on one piece of engineering: the industry's first liquid-cooled motor, now evolved into a full liquid-cooled intelligent powertrain. Its 2026 “liquid-cooled hardware + smart AI” dual-core architecture claims +10% range, load- and gradient-aware power delivery, and three active-safety functions (hill-hold, cornering sway suppression, wet-grip control). A 2026 iF Design Award winner and a Zhejiang “future factory” pilot.

Main lines. S-series performance e-motorcycles — the S86 “Warrior” (GT-Max / GT-Ultra / Smart Power) runs a 5,000 W peak liquid-cooled motor, 0–50 km/h in 6.2 s, 80 km/h top speed, ABS + CBS + TCS and a full-touch TFT dash with Luyuan OS 3.0; the S95, S70 Pro, S16 Ultra, INNO7 and Moda 50/60 fill out the range. The EMX250 off-road e-motorcycle was co-developed with the 2026 Dakar-winning Kove team. The LYVA sub-brand covers e-bikes, including the M05 with the world's first one-piece die-cast magnesium frame.

Sourcing note. Best for Hot-climate and heavy-duty markets — liquid cooling is the answer to thermal fade on long climbs and loaded runs. Six overseas innovation centres were inaugurated in May 2026, the clearest signal yet that Luyuan is moving from exporting products to exporting capability.

Just outside the top five: NIU 小牛 (NIU.US) — 1.198 m units in 2025, a premium smart brand rather than a volume player, with the XQi 500 (28.8 kW peak, 110 km/h, ABS + TCS) built for Europe and North America — and Xinri 新日, a major tier-1 whose 2025 figure was not separately disclosed.

Top 5 standing kick-scooter brands from China (2026 position)

Unit volumes for ranks 3–5 are not publicly disclosed; the order reflects brand position in the Chinese standing kick-scooter category. Razor and Gotrax lead globally but are US brands, so they fall outside this list.

1 Xiaomi 小米 HKEX: 01810

2025 position: world's best-known kick-scooter brand · ~2.3 m units shipped in 2024

Who they are. Xiaomi did more than any other company to turn the kick scooter into a consumer product — and it did it on price-to-spec. It does not break out scooter units separately, but the line is consistently among the top sellers on every major marketplace.

Main lines. The Electric Scooter 4 family (4 Lite 2nd Gen, 4, 4 Pro, 4 Ultra) and the newer Electric Scooter 5 series (5, 5 Pro, 5 MAX) that has replaced it in most channels. The 4 Ultra carries a 748 Wh battery — 120 km in eco mode, 80 km mixed — with front and rear disc brakes.

Sourcing note. Caution Xiaomi has shifted its scooter business overseas: the flagship Scooter 6 Ultra ships only outside China and the Mi line is largely gone from Xiaomi's own China channels. Treat Xiaomi as a consumer benchmark and a retail competitor, not as an OEM partner — for private label, work with an actual manufacturer further down this list.

2 Segway-Ninebot 九号 SSE: 689009

2025 position: 1.4626 m own-brand retail kick scooters · 15 m+ shipped cumulatively

Who they are. No. 1 globally by kick-scooter sales value for three consecutive years (2023–2025) under its own brands, and the supplier behind a large share of the shared-scooter fleets you see in European and US cities. The only brand on both of our 2026 lists.

Main lines. The KickScooter range spans entry to flagship: E2 Plus and E2 Plus E (25 km, 14.2 kg), F2 Plus / F2 Pro (55 km, 450 W, 10-inch pneumatics), and the MAX G2 (70 km, self-healing tubeless tyres, Apple Find My) with an optional range-extender battery. GT-series machines sit above that for performance buyers.

Sourcing note. Best for Sharing operators and distributors who need fleet-grade durability plus a real spare-parts pipeline. Also the safest bet for buyers who want one supplier for both seated and standing categories.

3 Inmotion 乐行天下 Shenzhen, est. 2012

2025 position: No. 1 globally in electric unicycles · top-5 in high-end kick scooters

Who they are. A Shenzhen specialist that designs everything in-house — its “three-electric” stack of controller, BMS and motor — and spends over RMB 2 m per product on development rather than assembling catalogue parts. A national “little giant” enterprise with 300+ patents, an Anhui base (Fuyang) and a Chongqing plant that opened in April 2025. Sells through 140+ channel partners in 55 countries.

Main lines. On the scooter side, the RS (dual motor, 8,400 W combined, 110 km/h, 160 km range, 150 kg payload, 50% gradient, IP67 — iF and Red Dot winner) and the Climber (2 × 1,500 W, 36% gradient, 38 km/h, IP56). Its unicycle range — V9, V11, V13 Challenger, V14, E20 and the 9,000 W Explorer 1 — is the category benchmark, and the V9 was the world's first to pass TÜV Rheinland's UL 2272 assessment.

Sourcing note. Best for Distributors serving enthusiasts, off-road and adventure segments where margins are higher than in commuter retail. Due diligence Inmotion is a named respondent in a US ITC Section 337 investigation into self-balancing unicycles that formally began in March 2026 — ask about exposure before committing to US-bound orders.

4 Leqi / LEQISMART 乐骑 Shenzhen

2025 position: AIoT short-distance mobility specialist · volumes not disclosed

Who they are. Shenzhen Leqi Intelligent Technology builds around IoT connectivity, somatosensory interaction and robotics, and holds 80+ patents and software copyrights. It is a technology-led supplier rather than a volume brand — which is exactly why it belongs on a sourcing list.

Main lines. Smart electric kick scooters, e-bikes, electric ride-on suitcases, self-balancing scooters, and both high-speed and off-road e-motorcycles — a matrix aimed at city commuting, outdoor adventure, competitive sport and lifestyle.

Sourcing note. Best for Private-label and ODM buyers who want connected features (app, telemetry, IoT lock) engineered in from the start, rather than bolted on. Because it is not a consumer brand in most markets, there is less channel conflict to negotiate around.

5 Joyor Export-focused · EU/UK

2025 position: Europe-focused export brand · volumes not separately published

Who they are. A China-based brand that sells almost entirely into Europe — with separate EU and UK storefronts — and, critically, organises its catalogue around type approval rather than around motor layout. That makes it a useful read on what European regulators will actually accept.

Main lines. Commuter, single-motor, dual-motor and off-road ranges, plus an ABE / EEC / DGT-approved collection for Germany, the wider EU and Spain. The S10-S is typical: 1,080 W, up to 70 km, 40 km/h, 18 Ah, 150 kg payload, IPX6.

Sourcing note. Best for European distributors who need road-legal paperwork in place from day one. Use its certification list as a checklist when you vet any other supplier on this page: if a factory cannot show you ABE or EEC documentation for the exact model you are buying, the price is irrelevant.

Two rulebooks: what to request before you place an order

Standing kick scooters. In the EU, PLEV certification to EN 17128:2020 plus CE — with the Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 applying from 2027. In the US, UL 2272. In the UK, privately owned e-scooters remain illegal on public roads outside of rental trials. Germany requires ABE; Spain requires DGT registration.

Seated e-scooters / e-mopeds. L-category whole-vehicle type approval (L1e / L2e / L3e); pedelecs to EN 15194.

Battery rules apply to both — EU Battery Regulation 2023/1542, UN 38.3 for transport, IEC 62133 for cells and packs. Before you place an order, ask for the Declaration of Conformity, the certification laboratory report, and the EMC and battery documentation for the exact category you intend to import. If a supplier sends you paperwork for the other category, that is your signal to stop.

Where BENLG fits

BENLG is a China-based OEM/ODM manufacturer and exporter of seated electric mopeds, motor scooters, e-bikes and cargo tricycles. We are headquartered in Dongguan with manufacturing bases in Tianjin, Wuxi and Taizhou, supported by branches in Gurgaon, Manila, Bangkok and Jakarta, and we currently ship to more than 65 countries.

Our T15 (108 kg) and ZY (105 kg) are L-category mopeds — not standing kick scooters. Because we work as a sourcing and private-label partner rather than a consumer brand, we do not rank ourselves in the lists above; we help buyers choose from them, and we build the machines for those who decide to go their own way.

FAQ

What is a motor scooter?

A motor scooter is a body-design term: a seated, step-through frame with a floorboard and small wheels — as opposed to a straddle-frame motorcycle or a stand-up kick scooter. It says nothing about legal class: depending on motor power and top speed, the same scooter is type-approved as a moped (EU L1e-B, up to 45 km/h) or a motorcycle (EU L3e, beyond that). For the full distinction, see our electric moped manufacturer guide.
