To enjoy a comfortable cross-country mountain trip, electric mountain bike will be a good choice. This article tells about what to pay attention to and top 10 mountain bike manufacturers in the world when choosing mountain bikes.
The electric moped is the workhorse of urban delivery and city commuting. Different markets regulate it under different names — EU class L1e in Europe, Category L1 in India, the blue-plate class in China, a patchwork of state rules in the US — but it is one product category, and this article calls it a moped throughout. The ten manufacturers below all build and homologate real mopeds. They are evaluated on overall production scale, electric two-wheeler business size, moped product availability, international market presence and commercial deployment, using 2025 data where it is published.
| # | Manufacturer | HQ | Why it ranks | Flagship moped(s) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Yadea 雅迪 | Wuxi, China | 4.82 million licensed electric two-wheelers in 2025 (plus 11.45 million licence-free e-bikes); three European-market moped models; exports to 100+ countries | GFX, Owin, Y1S |
| 2 | AIMA 爱玛 | Tianjin, China | 2.62 million electric motorcycles/mopeds in 2025; EEC/E-mark export models supplied with a CoC | AM-MINE, F626 |
| 3 | Niu Technologies 小牛 | Beijing, China | 1.20 million units in 2025; the broadest moped range of any brand in Europe; Europe is its core export market | NQi Sport, NQiX 150 |
| 4 | Piaggio | Pontedera, Italy | Europe's leading scooter group (17.5% EU scooter share); the Piaggio 1 family is a dedicated electric moped line | Piaggio 1, Piaggio 1+ |
| 5 | Kymco 光阳 | Kaohsiung, Taiwan, China | 312,040 vehicles sold globally in 2025; the i-One moped plus the Ionex battery-swap commercial-fleet programme | i-One |
| 6 | Silence | Barcelona, Spain | About 35.9% of Spain's electric two-wheeler market; the S02 is built for delivery fleets with a 30-second battery swap | S02 |
| 7 | Honda | Tokyo, Japan | The world's largest motorcycle maker (about 16.4 million units in 2025); the EM1 e: is a purpose-built electric moped on sale in Europe | EM1 e: |
| 8 | Yamaha | Iwata, Japan | About 5 million motorcycles a year globally; the Neo's is a dedicated electric moped sold across Europe | Neo's |
| 9 | Vmoto / Super Soco | Nanjing, China / Perth, Australia | 12,584 units in FY2025, 100% electric with a B2B fleet focus; the widest moped fleet range in the class | CPx, CITI, CUx, VS1 |
| 10 | Askoll | Dueville, Italy | Italy's best-selling electric moped brand (16.1% share in 2024); supplier to Austrian Post and European sharing fleets | eS2, eSpro45 |
This ranking does not represent verified moped sales volumes. Instead, manufacturers are evaluated based on overall production scale, electric two-wheeler business size, moped product availability, international market presence, and commercial deployment. Where a company discloses figures they are cited — Yadea, AIMA, Niu and Vmoto all publish them (company filings, T1). Honda, Yamaha, Piaggio and Kymco do not publish an electric-vehicle sales split, so their positions rest on global motorcycle scale and moped product lines. Market-share and registration data for Kymco, Silence and Askoll come from industry sources (T3).
Same vehicle, different names. What this article calls a moped is regulated as class L1e in the European Union, Category L1 in India, the blue-plate electric moped (电动轻便摩托车) in China, and a patchwork of state definitions in the United States. The speed and power limits differ between them — Europe allows up to 4 kW, India's L1 caps electric power at 0.5 kW, China's blue-plate class spans 25–50 km/h. Wherever a buying decision depends on the local class name or limit, we flag it; everywhere else, it's a moped.
| Market | Class name & limits | Licence / paperwork |
|---|---|---|
| European Union | L1e: ≤45 km/h, ≤4 kW (Reg. (EU) 168/2013) | AM licence (min. age 16, varies by country). Whole-vehicle type approval (WVTA) + manufacturer's CoC; the importer is legally obliged to verify the CoC (Art. 12(2)). |
| India | Category L1 (CMVR): ≤45 km/h and, if electric, ≤0.5 kW. Faster or more powerful two-wheelers fall into Category L2 | L1 and L2 are motor vehicles: registration + two-wheeler licence required. Only ≤25 km/h and ≤250 W is exempt (CMVR rule 2(u)). Mainstream e-scooters are 80–90 km/h, i.e. L2. PM E-DRIVE runs to 2028 but subsidies have been cut sharply. |
| China | Three classes: e-bicycle ≤25 km/h & ≤400 W (green/white plate, no licence); blue-plate electric moped 25–50 km/h, 400 W–4 kW; e-motorcycle >50 km/h >4 kW (yellow plate) | Blue plate needs an F, E or D licence (18+) and may not carry a passenger. City motorcycle bans apply to mopeds as well as motorcycles. |
| United States | No federal moped definition — each state sets its own (typically ≤30 mph, ≤50 cc or ≤2 brake hp) | Low-speed e-bikes (<750 W, <20 mph) are consumer products under 15 U.S.C. §2085; above that you need FMVSS (DOT) and EPA certification, state by state. |
Where the volume is. The IEA puts 2025 global electric two-wheeler sales at roughly 10 million units, up about 15% year on year, for roughly 14% penetration of the two-wheeler market. China accounts for over 7 million of those, India under 1.3 million, Vietnam about 735,000 and Africa around 70,000. Europe, notably, is only about 160,000 units and shrank about 5%.
Where the mopeds are. Europe is the only region that publishes a moped-class split. ACEM data for the EU-6 shows 142,000 moped registrations in 2025 (−21%), of which 42,000 were electric (−15%) — an electric share of 30.2%. That is a far smaller and slower-growing pool than the headline electric two-wheeler numbers suggest, and it is why the specialists on this list matter more to a moped importer than raw volume does.
The B2B demand story is fleet and delivery. In Africa the IEA attributes growth to ride-hailing and delivery: riders in Kenya earn USD 10–15 a day, fuel takes 40–60% of a petrol bike's running cost, while an electric bike's energy cost is under USD 2 a day. Battery swapping and leasing are the business models that make the numbers work.

In addition, TNT’s tubular steel motorcycle frame design is very unique, which not only improves sports handling performance, but also adds a high-end visual feel. The TNT135 has a sleek and edgy appearance, with bold color contrasts and a cut-out exhaust pipe design that makes it look very stylish and powerful.

The combination of LED lights makes the TNT135 more durable, with exquisite details and textures, so riders can enjoy a more comfortable and safe driving experience.

Kymco’s K-Pipe 125 is a very beautiful moped with a European-inspired design that has become a dark horse in the world of sporty and retro-inspired design. With a seat height of 838mm, as well as a tall, slim exterior package, this motorcycle makes it unique in its class.

In addition to this, the K-Pipe 125 is equipped with 17-inch wheels, which further improves stability and handling. The K-Pipe 125 is powered by a 125cc engine mated to a four-speed motorcycle gearbox, which is claimed to produce 8 hp at 7,000 rpm and bursts with 8.54 Nm of maximum torque at 6000 rpm, which is quite impressive.

This performance gives K-Pipe a slight advantage over the competition. At the same time, it also has a decent 4.5-litre fuel tank, which allows riders to enjoy driving for a long time.
